Biofile Ltd was founded in 1996 under the name of Biofons.  The first Biofons ELISA kit was introduced to the market in 1998.

A major strategic change for the business took place in 2004 when a newly established company, Biofile Ltd., bought the ELISA and IFA business and manufacturing rights from Biofons Ltd. All the key people from Biofons customer service and manufacturing, related to the ELISA business area, were transferred from Biofons to Biofile Ltd.  Biofile now owns all rights to the Biofons brand as well as to the Biofons ELISA and IFA products.

In the past few years Biofile has significantly increased distribution of diagnostic products to the Finnish market and the wider Baltic region.  In 2007 the company added two new products to its manufacturing line: Glucose and Lactose tolerance tests. These ready-to-use solutions are rapidly gaining market traction in the Baltic region and in the Middle East.
